How Do Sprinklers Fit into the Construction Process?

If you haven’t worked with fire sprinklers before or you question the process you have experienced, here is a summary of how it works:

- Blue Water is provided a copy of building plans. We then bid on the home. Some homes like log homes or custom homes may require subsequent site visits to evaluate any construction changes. We can then determine how this will effect fire sprinkler installation if at all.

- Once you award the job to Blue Water we obtain the permit. We’ll need information on water availability, well information if applicable, and underground piping information to complete the permit application.

- Blue Water arrives after the plumbing, HVAC, and electric trades have completed most of their work, to install the fire sprinklers.

- Initial installation takes 1-8 days depending on the size of the house. We will hydro test the system and then schedule a rough-in and possibly a flow test inspection with the inspector.

- After the rough-in inspection, the walls are closed, floors, texture, and paint are installed/finished. Blue Water then returns to install the Trim Plates (covers over the sprinklers) and do the flow test if not already completed with the inspection authorities. (Some jurisdictions vary as to when different inspection routines are done.)
